December is almost here, a month filled with light, tradition, and togetherness. As we close out our 40th year, my heart is full of gratitude for each and every one of you. Thank you for allowing Willy’s to be a part of your family, your routines, and your lives.

This month, we’re celebrating the holidays with joyful events, heartfelt community support, and special promotions throughout the entire facility. Here’s what’s happening:

December 5th: Join us for cake and champagne from 3–5 PM to celebrate our 40th anniversary.
December 6th: Holiday Fair and Santa Visit, fun for the whole family, 11 AM–3 PM.

Last month, we proudly delivered 40 full Thanksgiving gift boxes, each with a 20-pound turkey, full fixings, toys, and pet treats, to families in need across Cape Cod. The hand-decorated boxes from Cape Cod Children’s Place added incredible heart to this project. Their children colored the boxes, added stickers, and included sweet notes inside. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and partnership.

IN MEMORY OF KEN ROSCOE

We're saddened to share that longtime member and friend Ken Roscoe passed away in April. Ken was a true part of the Willy's family and loved by all. He will be deeply missed. We'll share information about services as soon as we have them.

We're excited to launch a fun new way to enjoy the outdoors:

Grab a bucket of balls from the front desk and practice your chipping into flagged targets on our safe, controlled outdoor course.

- a great way to work on your short game while staying within our safety boundaries.

Kick Into Action- Soccer Target Fun!

Did you know we have a giant 9-foot inflatable soccer target? Kids (and adults) can test their aim- the balls stick exactly where you hit the goal. It's super fun and great for accuracy training!

AS THE CLUB TURNS...

We were all set to open the outdoor courts- the crew had finished resurfacing Wednesday evening, and we planned to roll and open them Thursday morning.

But...the keys were missing.

We'd given them to the install team, and when we went to start rolling at 7:00AM Thursday- no keys. Not in the normal spot, not on the tractor, not in anyone's pocket! We searched everywhere. We even walked the back 4 acre field, thinking maybe it fell during mowing.

Finally, around 2:30PM- the keys turned up.

We got the courts rolled just in time- and even had a member come test the bounce. (thumbs up) .

Then, Friday morning at 6:00am- rain.

More delays. More shuffling. But we got the courts open for a noon reservation!

Just another week in the life of running a club. Because if you're not chasing keys through a field, are you even doing it right?

As we step into a brand-new year, we’re excited to continue building a strong, vibrant community at Willy’s. That’s why we are thrilled to announce the expansion of THE PLAYER’S LOUNGE, a welcoming space for everyone- members and the public alike.

At The Players Lounge, you’ll find:

Big screen entertainment on our 10-foot Screen – “Where the game is always on”

As the club turns...

A chilling Tale from the Poolside: The Mystery of the Emergency Exit Door

It was the winter of 2020 when we crafted a cozy, enclosed space in front of the pool - our noble attempt to shield swimmers from the icy blasts in the winter and the heat in the summer every time the emergency exit door swung open. A warm sanctuary was born, keeping the pool inviting and toasty, even in the coldest months and cool in the hottest.

But alas, a peculiar phenomenon emerged! Instead of taking the usual route through the front door some folks- neither swimmers nor polar bears- began sneaking out the pool's emergency exit, unleashing a frosty gust into the once-warm waters. Was it the allure of the forbidden door? A shortcut that whispered "just this once...?"

We must now remind our dear friend's: the pool's emergency exit is just that- for emergencies only. Each time it's used improperly, the chill creeps back in, undoing the warm haven we've worked so hard to maintain. So, let's leave the door alone and keep the pool area cozy for everyone- unless, of course, you'd like to star in the next chilling episode of As The Club Turns!

WILLY’ S GIVES BACK: Supporting Our Community Every Month

At Willy’s, giving back has always been close to our hearts. For years, we’ve quietly supported our community in many ways-like donating 100 Turkeys and all the fix-ins during Thanksgiving – but now we’re excited to share a bit more about these efforts with all of you. Every month, we’re committed to supporting a local cause, and here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

October: We donated $1,000 to Helping Our Women, a wonderful organization assisting women in need across the Cape.

November: Just in time for Thanksgiving, we’re hosting a Pickleball tournament with proceeds supporting the Wellfleet Food Pantry. We’re proud to donate another $1,000 to help local families during the holiday season. Have you registered yet?

Looking ahead, we’re planning an event in January to support Cape Cod Hospital Orleans Auxiliary as part of our commitment to community health and well-being and The Cape Cod Toy Library!

Congratulations to the Willy’s USTA Women’s 3.0 Tennis Team for an incredible start to the season! They dominated Mid Cape with a clean sweep in their first matches of the season on Thursday October 31.We’re so proud of this fantastic team- way to go!

As the Club Turns: The Quest for Better Health… or just some SANITY!

These days, I feel like I’ve got enough advice coming at me to fill a novel-or maybe a reality show! Between late night ads and internet articles, it seems there’s always a new “miracle routine” to keep me healthy. You know the ones: “Do this one thing before bed to reduce belly fat!” or “Drink this magic juice every morning for perfect cholesterol.”

I’ve now got a list of 15 things to do before bed and another 25 to tackle first thing in the morning. The irony? I end up rushing around so much that I’m already exhausted by the time I make it to the club. But then it hit me- every day, I walk into this great facility with all the equipment I could ever need. If I just set aside 30-40 minutes a few times a week, I can let go of all those “miracle” routines and actually enjoy a workout that leaves me feeling great. And even have time for a game or two of Pickleball!

As I’ve always said, Willy’s is the place everyone loves to leave- because you always feel better than when you walked in. I’m back to my workouts and couldn’t feel better!

Exciting Leadership Promotions at Willys!

I’m thrilled to announce some fantastic updates in our management team. First, please join me in congratulating Christopher Santa on his promotion to Manager . His dedication and hard work have been key to our success, and we’re excited for what he’ll bring in his new role.

Additionally, Congratulations to Harrison Niggel , who is stepping up as our new General Manage r! Harrison has been an essential part of our team, and we’re confident that his leadership will continue to drive Willy’s forward.

You guessed it, Reece is returning in October for the winter months! Reece had another successful year at Moby Dick’s working for one of the best restaurant guys on the Cape but now we get him back! And we couldn’t be happier, welcome back buddy!

And there’s one more, Calvin Dees is back for the winter! Calvin is teaching the Tots Tennis for our Tennis Academy- we are so happy to have him back assisting Director Michael Mercier!

We’re happy to offer family changing rooms at Willy’s for your convenience! These private spaces are perfect for parents bringing children of the opposite gender, such as dads with daughters or moms with sons. It allows families to avoid the general locker rooms and provides the privacy and comfort you need.

AS THE CLUB TURNS…..Celebrating the Joy Willy’s Brings

At Willy’s, we’ve faced our share of challenges, especially when confronted by false newspaper stories and internet trolls with negative comments online, but we always strive to focus on the joy our community brings us. Today, we want to share a special story that reminds us why we do what we do and believe me sometimes we need reminded!

There’s a remarkable woman who has been a member of Willy’s for over 30 years. She recently turned 95 years old and, like many of us, had been through some tough times. Although she didn’t say it, we could tell she was struggling. At 90 she was considering giving up her membership because it had become too difficult for her to afford

But we didn’t want to lose her presence at Willy’s so, we decided to create a special policy for our members when they turn 90- from that point on, their membership is free. We know that staying active, even just 15 minutes a few times a week can increase longevity and overall happiness. She was our first 90 year old to receive her free membership.

We’re thrilled to share that this incredible woman has enjoyed 5 years with us at no cost. It’s stories like hers that remind us of the community we’re built and the joy that comes from seeing our members continue to thrive.

When I first opened Willy’s in 1985 before I even found a building to rent, I purchased a neon sign with a heart and Willy’s written across it in the middle. I believe that regardless of what anyone says Willy’s has heart and has always made a difference in our community- thank you for being a member!

AS THE GYM TURNS- a funny thing happened at the gym!

Ah, the adventure of the Jacuzzi Jets- a tale of mystery, confusion, and unexpected discoveries!

It took us quite a while to crack the code on our women’s Jacuzzi Jets. Oh, the excitement when those bubbles finally started flowing again! But here’s the kicker- amidst the complaints about the jets not working, not a peep from our members when they were back in action. That is until one fateful day…

A member approached the front desk with a curious question-how to turn off the bubbles. I nearly fell over in disbelief After all the fuss about not having them, now they wanted to know how to shut them off?

The funny part? Their attempts to deactivate the bubbles only seemed to make matters worse. They kept hitting the green button, thinking it would do the trick. Little did they know, that button only extended the jet time, making the bubbles louder and more persistent.

So, here’s the scoop, to turn on the bubbles, just push the green button once. It’ll automatically shut off when the time is up. And never hit the red emergency button because if you do the jets will not turn on for the next user until we reset it. This happens all the time in the men’s Jacuzzi and then the men think the jets don’t work.
