Willy's is proud to be the Presenting sponsor for the American Heart Association. In the last year Willy's donated and/ raised over $40,000 for this very worthy cause. The American Heart Association is an organization dedicated to reducing the risk of heart attacks the number 1 killer of women in this country. In April Willy's staff volunteers their time to run the American Heart Walk and this year in February 2005 Willy's will again support the Heart Association's Go Red program.
Special Olympics are another organization Willy's participates in sponsoring their swim meet and providing needed space for the young athletes to hone their skills.
Local high schools such as Nauset, Harwich, and Cape Cod Tech to name a few have received donations of strength and cardio equipment for their athletic program.
Willy's, by either donating or discounting space and programming, supports middle school and elementary school fitness programs. One such program is Truro's "Jump Up and Go" program to combat obesity in our children.
Self-defense, and stranger danger programs are taught free of charge to all the local high schools and middle schools on an annual basis.
Willy's realizes that sometimes people need help and since we believe so strongly in health and fitness as a way of life we have our own scholarship program for qualified individuals / families. The membership advisory board has the applications and makes the determination about scholarships from full to partial depending on the need. Willy's sets aside a fixed amount every year to pay for this program.
Willy's is happy to sponsor local events such as The Lower Cape Open Tennis Tournament in August. We donate the facility and the staff for two fun filled weekends to benefit young tennis enthusiasts. The Lower Cape Open is a long time effort of many dedicated Cape Coders and Willy's is thankful to have the opportunity to help.
We have enjoined with local recreation departments in Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet to provide Town Team Programs in swimming, tennis, rock climbing, golf, and Group X.
